Rules for authors

Rules for Formatting Materials for the journal “Bulletin of the Karakalpak Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
- The Editorial Board considers materials submitted in hard copy (in two copies) together with an electronic version in the following volume:
- article – from 6 to 15 pages;
- review, critique, information – no more than 6 pages;
- other materials – by agreement with the Editorial Board.
- When determining the volume of the material, please proceed from the following parameters:
- the text must be printed on white standard A4 paper (210×295 mm) in 14-point font with 1.5 line spacing;
- margins: left – 3 cm, top, right and bottom – 2 cm;
- the electronic version must be submitted in RTF format.
- Materials must be formatted in accordance with the following requirements:
a) the text must be typed in the Microsoft Word 97 text editor; the use of other RTF-compatible programs, including OpenOffice, is allowed; font – Times New Roman; - b) articles in the Karakalpak and Uzbek languages must be typed using Unicode encoding (Times New Roman), without replacing letters of the Karakalpak and Uzbek alphabets with visually similar Cyrillic or Latin characters. Materials typed using ABD, Bodo, Pragmatica KRKP and similar fonts are not accepted;
- c) the first page must indicate the UDC index, the title of the article, the initials and surname of the author(s), and the name(s) of the institution(s); at the end of the article, the signatures and telephone numbers of all authors must be provided;
- d) the article must be accompanied by abstracts in Uzbek, Russian, and English (at least 20 lines in each language), including the title of the article in Uzbek, Russian, and English, the spelling of the authors’ full names and the name of the organization in Uzbek, Russian, and English. Articles without abstracts are not accepted;
- e) mathematical formulas should be entered using the built-in Equation Editor. Structural chemical formulas should be inserted into the text as graphical objects or attached to the article in WMF format. It is not allowed to typeset block diagrams, mathematical and chemical formulas by manually aligning ordinary characters across several adjacent lines. It is not recommended to overload the text of the article with excessive objects; that is, Greek alphabet letters, variables, etc. should be typed using the symbol insertion operation or by changing the font type;
- f) due to limited printing capabilities, the Editorial Board asks authors to avoid the use of halftone illustrations (photographs, computer screen copies, etc.), replacing them with line drawings. Illustrations should be submitted to the Editorial Board as separate graphic files, without placing them in the Word document;
- g) the text of the article must contain references to each figure and table;
- h) the list of references must be compiled by sequentially numbering in the order in which the works are cited. In the text, references are indicated by numbers in square brackets. References to dissertations and their abstracts are not allowed.
Bibliographic description is given as follows:
- for monographs – author’s surname and initials, title of the work, city, publisher, year;
- for journal articles – author’s surname and initials, journal title, year, volume and issue number, pages;
- for articles in collections – author’s surname and initials, title of the collection, city, publisher, year, volume and issue number, pages.
- i) on the last page, the author(s) must sign the material. The following information is also provided here:
- surname, full first name and patronymic of the author;
- position and place of work or study (with the correct name of the faculty, university, institution, etc.);
- academic degree (if any);
- precise contact details:
- official and/or home address with postal code;
- telephone number(s) and fax (with area codes);
- e-mail address (if available);
- j) materials from applicants and master’s students are accepted only if there is a recommendation from the relevant university departments, divisions, or sectors of research institutions.
- Prepared materials are submitted to the Editorial Board by the secretaries of the special seminars of the Karakalpak Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan after discussion and recommendation for publication.
- The following accompanying documents must be attached to the article:
- an official covering letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief, signed by the head of the institution;
- an extract from the minutes of the discussion of the article at meetings of the institution’s departments, certified by the seal of the institution;
- two reviews by scholars of the relevant specialty (a Candidate of Sciences and a Doctor of Sciences), certified by the seal of a scientific institution;
- an expert examination report certified by a seal.
- Articles are accepted by the Editorial Board after compliance with all the above-mentioned requirements and are registered after careful review by an editorial staff member and resolution of any arising questions. If the listed requirements are not met, the submitted materials are not considered.
